POSTPONED: Observatory Training
The observatory is temporarily out of order. Students will be advised when class is rescheduled.
SCHEDULE
4:00 pm Class meets at observatory
6:30 pm Dinner break (brown bag)
7:00 pm Class reconvenes for skills demonstration, personal access code, class photo, and observing
12:00 am 1st light window (summer)
02:00 am 2nd light window (summer)

Training covers opening and closing the observatory, operating the 12.5” f/5 and C14 telescopes, and securing the building in case of emergency. After a short dinner break, students will reconvene to demonstrate competence in these areas:
- Understanding the burden of responsibility for the facility
- Documenting "as found” and “as left” condition of the observatory
- Proper startup and shutdown of the telescopes
- Use of emergency procedures
